For the assignment of making a cover for the poetry anthology I decided to do something basic but at the same time attention grabbing. With some silhouettes that I found on the internet and the butter fly brush stroke under special effects. Over all I am pleased with how it turned out and hope that it is picked for this years anthology.
Lorrel you design is brilliant but your reflection is weak. You were asked to explain the concept and why it is suited to the task. Let me show you what I was looking for...
ReplyDeleteMy design features a predominantly black and white image that is meant to intrigue people into wondering about the contents of the book. The hooded figure suggests an average teen and his activity of flying a kite, might be ordinary if it were not for the features of the "kite". Hundreds of butterflies rise up for the figure's hand and form a cross in the sky. This is a metaphor for his releasing his creativity into the world and acknowledges the Catholicity of the organization publishing the text. I placed a blue bird on the should of the figure as a focal point and sharp contrast to the otherwise black and white image. The bird could be considered to represent a creative idea, or a nagging thought waiting to be expressed. The attention grabbing nature of the image is well suited to an adolescent audience.
See what I'm after? Can you come up with something like that next time?
